Does antivirus really do any work for your computer in this day and age? Or do you need antivirus software at all?

In today's post I will tell 3 reasons and after hearing the reasons I think even if you have antivirus software on your computer you should uninstall it.

Antivirus software slows down your computer all the time. Especially if you use an old computer or use a budget range laptop or desktop computer then antivirus software plays a critical role in slowing down your computer. All antiviruses run some background processes and background services and do so constantly. Background services and background processes are constantly eating up your RAM and CPU. And I have serious doubts about how much work is done, which I will discuss in the remaining two points.

If your computer is a little slow and if there is an antivirus software on the computer, then try uninstalling it, there are many chances to make it faster.

Antivirus software can never give you 100% security. To understand the reason for this, you need to understand how antivirus software actually works.

Antivirus software is basically a virus database. This means that there are many definitions of viruses in this database, and the antivirus software is instructed to recognize that if you ever see these things, they are viruses and remove them.

Now whenever a virus is created, when a new virus is created to harm people, the antivirus software cannot initially detect that virus because the virus has never been seen or known in the first place. Due to which the new virus can enter your computer easily.

Companies that own antivirus are basically constantly defining new viruses and adding new viruses to their databases. That's why antivirus softwares have to be updated regularly, if you don't update then this antivirus won't be of any use to you.

And even after updating, most of the time when new viruses come out, most of the people's computers are damaged first, then antivirus companies define them as viruses, because of this, antivirus software can't give you 100% security, but your common sense will give you the most security.

I think this is the biggest reason why you don't need any third-party antivirus software on your computer. It means you already have an antivirus installed on your computer. If you are a Windows 10 or 11 user then you definitely have an antivirus on your computer and this antivirus is enough to keep your computer secure and you don't need any third party antivirus. But if you are using Windows 7 or older Windows XP then the built-in antivirus is not very effective.

But Windows 10 and Windows 11 have the latest built-in Windows Defender that Windows Security now says is very strong and works on par with many other antiviruses. So you don't need any other third-party antivirus software. There are several settings in this Windows security that if you fix, your computer will be a little more safe.

Since you have a built-in antivirus, there is absolutely no need to use third-party antivirus software.

Finally I want to highlight one small thing that I was saying from the beginning which is common sense.

How do we avoid viruses with commonsense? For example, if you enter a website and there is a tempting ad, there is a picture that is very attractive but you want to click here, be careful, you don't click and sometimes you see lottery offers or huge downloads. The file is written. You have gone to download a file (mostly cracked software) when you want to download, on those web sites we see that there are 10-12 download buttons in a page. I am confused which one to click. Always remember that the download buttons are very big, colorful red and blue lights are lit, avoid clicking on them, the download options on these sites are very small, sometimes there are only links in the text.

So if you can maintain these things and you can get away from the habit of downloading and using software from these web sites and stop visiting the reverse web sites then virus will not enter your computer.

There was a time when virus creators used to create viruses to torment people like shortcut viruses, copy viruses that make 2-3 copies of 1 file, these were actually of no use to virus creators. Although there might be some other reason behind it like some other company might do this to discredit Windows but basically those who made it were actually doing it to harm people and they had no profit of their own.

But the viruses that are created today are mainly created to collect your information. For example, if you talk about Ransomware, they will seize your files and then demand money from you. So there is nothing better than common sense to avoid this type of mistakes because there are very few third-party antivirus software that can block Ransomware. But Windows Defender works well because Windows Defender understands the behavior of viruses. If there is no definition of that virus in their database, if a software misbehaves with Windows, Windows can understand and block it in advance and warn you that this software wants to enter your computer and want to misbehave or misbehave. You turn it off if it's a bad software.

This is why Windows Defender seems to me to be better than other antiviruses because Windows knows its own niche and has developed the software itself.

I would always suggest that you don't need to use any third party antivirus if you can spend money and get a very good quality antivirus for money. এন্টিভাইরাস কি এই যুগে এসে আসলেই আপনার কম্পিউটারের কোন কাজ করে? বা আপনার আদৌ এন্টিভাইরাস সফটওয়্যারের কি দরকার আছে?

আজকের পোস্টে 3 টা কারন বলব এবং কারন গুলো শোনার পরে আমার মনে হয় আপনার কম্পিউটারে এন্টিভাইরাস সফটওয়্যার থাকলেও আপনি সেটাকে আনইন্সটল করে দেবেন।

এন্টিভাইরাস সফটওয়্যার সব সময় আপনার কম্পিউটারকে ধীর গতি করে দেয়। স্পেশালি যদি একটু পুরনো কম্পিউটার ইউজ করেন আপনি কিংবা একটু বাজেট রেঞ্জের ল্যাপটপ কিংবা ডেক্সটপ কম্পিউটার ইউজ করেন তাহলে অ্যান্টিভাইরাস সফটওয়্যার আপনার কম্পিউটারকে ধীর গতি করার জন্য একটা মারাত্মক ভূমিকা পালন করে। সবগুলো অ্যান্টিভাইরাস কিছু না কিছু ব্যাকগ্রাউন্ড প্রসেস এবং ব্যাকগ্রাউন্ড সার্ভিসেস চালু করে এবং সেটা প্রতিনিয়ত করতেই থাকে। ব্যাকগ্রাউন্ড সার্ভিস এবং ব্যাকগ্রাউন্ড প্রসেস গুলো আপনার র‍্যাম এবং সিপিউ প্রতিনিয়ত খেতে থাকে। আর কাজের কাজ কতটুকু করে এটা নিয়ে আমার মারাত্মক রকমের সন্দেহ আছে যেটা বাকি দুইটা পয়েন্ট আলোচনা করবো।

আপনার কম্পিউটার যদি একটু স্লো হয় আর কম্পিউটারে যদি একটি অ্যান্টিভাইরাস সফটওয়্যার থাকে তাহলে আন ইন্সটল করে দেখুন ফাস্ট হয়ে যাওয়ার চান্স অনেক আছে।

এন্টিভাইরাস সফটওয়্যার আপনাকে কখনোই শতভাগ নিরাপত্তা দিতে পারবে না। এর কারন টা অনুধাবন করতে হলে বুঝতে হবে অ্যান্টিভাইরাস সফটওয়্যার আসলে কিভাবে কাজ করে।

এন্টিভাইরাস সফটওয়্যার মূলত একটি ভাইরাসের ডাটাবেজ। মানে এই ডাটাবেজের মধ্যে অনেকগুলি ভাইরাসের ডেফিনেশন দেওয়া আছে এবং এন্টিভাইরাস সফটওয়্যার কে কমান্ড বা চিনিয়ে রাখা হয়েছে যে এই এই জিনিসগুলো যদি তুমি কখনো দেখো তাহলে বুঝবা এগুলো ভাইরাস এবং এগুলোকে রিমুভ করবা।

এখন যখনই কোন একটা ভাইরাস তৈরি হয় যখন মানুষকে ক্ষতি করার জন্য কোন একটা নতুন ভাইরাস তৈরি করে সেই ভাইরাস টাকে অ্যান্টিভাইরাস সফটওয়্যার ইনিশিয়াল ডিটেক্ট করতে পারে না কারণ প্রথমে তো ওই ভাইরাস টাকে কখনও দেখে নি বা চিনিয়ে দেওয়া হয় নাই। যার কারনে আপনার কম্পিউটারের সহজেই নতুন ভাইরাসটি ঢুকতে পারে।

অ্যান্টিভাইরাসের যে কোম্পানিগুলো আছে তারা মূলত প্রতিনিয়ত নতুন নতুন ভাইরাস ডিফাইন করে এবং নতুন ভাইরাসের ডেটাবেজ যুক্ত করে। এ কারণেই অ্যান্টিভাইরাস সফটওয়্যার গুলো রেগুলারলি আপডেট করতে হয় আপডেট যদি না করেন তাহলে আপনার এই এন্টিভাইরাস কোন কাজে আসবে না।

এবং আপডেট দেওয়ার পরেও বেশিরভাগ সময় যখন নতুন ভাইরাস বের হয় তখন বেশিরভাগ মানুষের কম্পিউটারে আগে ক্ষতি করে ফেলে এরপর এ্যন্টিভাইরাস কোম্পানিগুলো সে গুলোকে ভাইরাস হিসেবে ডিফাইন করে এই কারণে শতভাগ নিরাপত্তা কিন্তু এন্টিভাইরাস সফটওয়্যার আপনাকে দিতে পারবে না বরং আপনার কমন সেন্সের আপনাকে সবচেয়ে বেশি নিরাপত্তা দেবে।

আমার মনে হয় এটা হচ্ছে সবচেয়ে বড় কারন এখানে আপনার কম্পিউটারের third-party কোন এন্টিভাইরাস সফটওয়্যার দরকার নেই। মানে অলরেডি আপনার কম্পিউটারের একটি অ্যান্টিভাইরাস ইন্সটল করা আছে। যদি আপনি উইন্ডোজ 10 কিংবা 11 ইউজার হন তাহলে ডেফিনেটলি আপনার কম্পিউটারে একটি অ্যান্টিভাইরাস আছে এবং এই অ্যান্টিভাইরাস আপনার কম্পিউটারকে সিকিউর রাখার জন্য যথেষ্ট এবং আর কোনো থার্ড পার্টি এন্টিভাইরাসের দরকার নেই। কিন্তু আপনি যদি ইউন্ডোজ 7 বা এর পুরনো ইউন্ডোজ এক্সপ ইউজ করেন তাহলে যে ওইখানে বিল্ট-ইন যে অ্যান্টিভাইরাসটি আছে সেটা বেশি কার্যকরী না। 

কিন্তু উইন্ডোজ 10 এবং উইন্ডোজ 11 এ সর্বশেষ যে বিল্ট ইন উইন্ডোজ ডিফেন্ডার আছে যেটা এখন উইন্ডোজ সিকিউরিটি বলছে এটা কিন্তু অনেক স্ট্রং এবং অন্য অনেক অ্যান্টিভাইরাস এর সাথে পাল্লা দিয়ে এটা কাজ করে। তাই আপনার অন্য কোন third-party এন্টিভাইরাস সফটওয়্যারের দরকার নেই। এই উইন্ডোজ সিকিউরিটিতে বেশ কিছু সেটিং আছে যেগুলো আপনারা ফিক্স করে নিলে আপনার কম্পিউটার টা আরেকটু বেশি সেইফ হবে।

আপনার যেহেতু বিল্ট-ইন একটা এন্টিভাইরাস আছে তাই পার্টি এন্টিভাইরাস সফটওয়্যার ইউজ করা তো একদমই কোন দরকার নেই।

ফাইনালি আমি একটা ছোট্ট জিনিসের উপর আলোকপাত করতে চাই সেটা হচ্ছে যেটা প্রথম থেকেই বলছিলাম সেটা হচ্ছে কমন সেন্স।

কিভাবে আমরা কমনসেন্স দিয়ে ভাইরাস এড়িয়ে যাব? যেমন আপনি যদি কোন ওয়েবসাইটে ঢুকেন এবং সেখানে যদি কোন লোভনীয় বিজ্ঞাপন থাকে, এমন কোন ছবি থাকে যেটা অনেক বেশি আকর্ষণীয় কিন্তু আপনার মন চাচ্ছে আমি ক্লিক করি এখানেই সাবধান, আপনি ক্লিক করবেন না সেই সাথে অনেক সময় দেখা যায় লটারির অফার আসে বা বড় বড় করে ডাউনলোড ফাইল লেখা থাকে। আপনি একটা ফাইল ডাউনলোড করতে গেছেন (বেশিরভাগ ক্ষেত্রে ক্র্যাক সফটওয়্যার) ডাউনলোড করতে গেলে ওই ওয়েব সাইট গুলোতে আমরা দেখি যে একটা পেইজ এর মধ্যে 10 - 12 টার মত ডাউনলোড বাটন। কোন টা ক্লিক করবো আমি কনফিউজড। সব সময় মনে রাখবেন যে ডাউনলোড বাটন গুলো অনেক বড় বড় অনেক কালারফুল লাল নীল বাতি জ্বলে ওইগুলোতে ক্লিক করা থেকে বিরত থাকবেন এই সব সাইটে ডাউনলোড অপশন গুলো অনেক ছোট থাকে মাঝে মধ্যে শুধুমাত্র লেখার মধ্যে লিঙ্ক করা থাকে।

তাই এই জিনিসগুলো যদি আপনি মেইনটেইন করতে পারেন এবং এইসব ওয়েব সাইটের সফটওয়্যার ডাউনলোড ও ব্যবহার করার অভ্যাসটা থেকে আপনি কিছুটা সরে আসতে পারেন এবং উল্টা পাল্টা ওয়েব সাইটগুলোতে ভিজিট করা বন্ধ করতে পারেন তাহলে আপনার কম্পিউটারে ভাইরাস কিন্তু সচরাচর ঢুকবে না।

একটা সময় ছিল যখন ভাইরাস যারা তৈরি করতো তারা হুদাই মানুষকে যন্ত্রণা দেওয়ার জন্য ভাইরাস তৈরি করত যেমন শর্টকাট ভাইরাস, কপি ভাইরাস যেগুলো 1 টা ফাইলের 2-3 টা কপি বানায় ফেলে এগুলোতে আসলে ভাইরাস ক্রিয়েটর এর কোন লাভ ছিল না। যদিও এইখানে অন্য কোনো কারন থাকতে পারে যেমন অন্য কোন কোম্পানি উইন্ডোজকে বদনাম করার জন্য এটা করতে পারে এরকম কোন বিহাইন্ড দ্যা স্টোরি থাকতে পারে কিন্তু মুলত যারা তৈরি করতো তারা আসলে মানুষকে ক্ষতি করার জন্যই করতো তাদের নিজেদের কোন লাভ ছিল না।

কিন্তু বর্তমানে যেই ভাইরাস গুলো তৈরি করা হয় এইগুলো মূলত আপনার তথ্য সংগ্রহ করার জন্য তৈরি হয়। যেমন Ransomware এর কথা যদি বলেন তাহলে তারা আপনার ফাইল গুলোকে জব্দ করে তারপর আপনার কাছ থেকে টাকা চাইবে। তাই এই টাইপের ভুল গুলো এড়িয়ে চলার জন্য কমনসেন্স এর চাইতে বড় আর কোন কিছু নাই কারন Ransomware কে বাধা দিতে পারে এরকম এন্টিভাইরাস সফটওয়্যার third-party এন্টিভাইরাস সফটওয়্যার কিন্তু খুব কম আছে। কিন্তু উইন্ডোজ ডিফেন্ডার টা ভালো কাজ করে কারণ উইন্ডোজ ডিফেন্ডার হচ্ছে ভাইরাসের আচরণ বুঝে। যদি তাদের ডাটাবেজে সেই ভাইরাস এর ডেফিনেশন নাও থাকে তবে কোন একটা সফটওয়্যার যদি উল্টাপাল্টা আচরণ করে উইন্ডোজ এর সাথে তাহলে উইন্ডোজ বুঝতে পারে এবং সেটাকে আগে থেকেই ব্লক করে দেয় এবং আপনাকে ওয়ার্নিং দেয় যে এই সফটওয়ার টি আপনার কম্পিউটারের ভেতরে ঢুকে উল্টাপাল্টা আচরণ করতে চাই বা খারাপ আচরণ করতেছে বা খারাপ একটা সফটওয়্যার এটা আপনি বন্ধ করেন।

এই কারণে উইন্ডোজ ডিফেন্ডার আমার কাছে অন্যান্য এন্টিভাইরাস থেকে ভাল মনে হয় কারণ উইন্ডোজ তার নিজের স্পেস কে চেনে এবং নিজে সেই সফটওয়ারটা ডেভলপ করেছে।

আমি সব সময় পরামর্শ করব আপনাদেরকে থার্ড পার্টি কোন এন্টিভাইরাস ইউজ করার কোন দরকার নেই যদি আপনি পয়সা খরচ করে খুব ভালো মানের এন্টিভাইরাস নিতে পারেন টাকা দিয়ে। সেটা হয়তো মোটামুটি কাজ করবে কিন্তু আবারও বলি যদি আপনি কমনসেন্স একটু মেইনটেইন করে চলেন তাহলে ওরকম সফটওয়্যারও দরকার নেই। ধন্যবাদ পোস্ট টি ভাল লাগলে কমেন্ট ও শেয়ার করবেন।
